As the years go by, The Super Bowl grown to be well known (or better known) for its monstrous media spend than the celebration of American Football it represents. As for internet advertisement, growing everlasting as well, YouTube has encouraged users to vote for their favorite Super Bowl ads for the past 10 years and the results have now been revealed. When it comes to the Super Bowl, we all wait impatiently to discover the new colossal super productions brands have put together. Although they are designed to impress 110 million TV viewers, YouTube has encouraged users to also watch them online and vote for their favorite.
The 10 year anniversary report made by YouTube said that all the “Super Bowl ads released between 2008 and 2016 on YouTube were analyzed and ranked based on their views in January and February of the year in which they were released.” However, no ads before 2011 managed to crack the list. YouTube ranked the top 20 Super Bowl ads which have been watched for a combined 440 million minutes, or the equivalent of watching the Super Bowl 1.8 million times. 90 percent of these ads were released on YouTube prior to airing during the Super Bowl. Which makes sense – if you spend millions on a 30 second spot, you want to make sure as many people see it as possible.
